Dean's Message

The College of Horticulture, Bengaluru has completed productive academic years producing four batches of Master and two batches of Doctoral graduates. Intensive collaborations with Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, Central Plantation Crops Research Institute and others have been successful in moulding and empowering the students for their all-round development through quality teaching and research. This has been evidenced by placement of our students in reputed organizations for service career and also reputed education institute for pursuing their higher studies. The college has become a sought after destination for pursuing higher education by the students of the state, outside state and foreign national.
With experienced and dedicated faculty members, the state-of-art facilities both lab and field, the college has been helping the students to realize their goal of building their career in the field of horticulture. The postgraduate students work in live projects for their thesis. The Peer Review Team of ICAR visited the campus for accreditation of college for the first time. The team expressed its satisfaction on the way the college is being developed in a short span of five years of its existence. The development of the college in a fastrack mode has been the efforts of University authorities particularly, the Vice-Chancellors and Board of Managements in extending of all out support by providing needed finance and impart the collective efforts of both faculty and supporting staff of the campus is also responsible.

About Us

The Post-Graduate Centre, Bengaluru campus of the University of Horticultural Sciences started functioning from 2010-11 with the establishment of a separate University of Horticultural Sciences with its headquarters at Bagalkot by a special ordinance No. 2 of 2008 dt.22.11.2008 of the Karnataka Government. The Post-Graduate Centre was re-designated as College of Horticulture in the year 2014-15 which led to the commencement of Bachelor’s degree programme in Horticulture.
The Bengaluru campus of the University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot (UHSB) houses both the College of Horticulture (COHB) and Regional Horticultural Research and Extension Centre (RHREC). The campus is situated on the western side of GKVK, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru (UASB). It is about 21 km from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), 14 km away from Bengaluru city railway station / central bus terminal (Majestic) and with two approaches, one on Bengaluru- Hyderabad highway (NH-7) and the other on the western side of the campus, which is popularly referred to as BBMP road.
The campus is located at 130 05’ North latitude and 770 33’ East longitude at an altitude of 950m above the mean sea level. The campus receives an annual average rainfall of 923.7 mm in 55 rainy days spread over from June to September in kharif and October to December in rabi. Watershed measures, rainwater harvesting both from surface and roofs and waste water treatment and recycling are adding to the efforts of securing water resources on the campus for field experiments.
