Horticulture Research Station, Kanabargi
The Horticulture Research Station, Kanabargi was established during 1986 under the administrative control of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad and was transferred to University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot during, April, 1st 2009.
The total area of the farm is 08.45 ha, in which Cashew, Mango, Bird of paradise, Heliconia and Vegetable crops are being cultivated and propagation studies are taken.
Objectives:
Following are the main research activities undertaken,
- Development of high yielding varieties and hybrids in vegetables.
- Organic farming in plantation crops.
- Collection and conservation of Mango, Cashew, Sapota, Jack fruit and Jamun germplasm..
- Multiple cropping systems in cashew.
- Integrated pest and disease management in vegetables and plantation crops.
Achievements:
Standardised the agro techniques to cultivate bird of paradise and heliconia.
