Horticulture Research Station, Srinivasapura
This centre has been handed over to the university recently by the state Department of Horticulture. It is situated in the Kolar District where the mango, tomato, potato, mulberry, cashew are cultivated extensively. The area of the station is 150 acres, cashew comes up well with good quality nuts. The centre is placed in the area where there is a problem of water scarcity. The farm will be used to set-up AICRP centre for cashew and possibly mango (in future). The mandate fruit crops of the station are cashew, mango, custard apple, ber, aonla, dry land horticulture crops, Tomato, Potato, Brinjal, Beans, etc. The centre would develop the technology for the cultivation of horticulture crops at dry land and water scarce conditions. Since the station is new, it needs immediate infrastructure facilities.
